校長Blog No.162『 Hilltop High School Lancers 来校 』
8月に本校生がホームステイでお世話になったアメリカ Hilltop High School から8名の生徒が来校してくれました。短期間ですが、今度は本校生のご家庭にホームステイで過ごします。ちょうど、文化祭と重なりますので、楽しく、充実した滞在になることを願っています。
Good morning, Hilltop High Lancers!
Welcome to Kansai Ohkura High School! My name is Kenshi Matsumura, the principalof this school. On behalf of all our students, and staff, I would like to extend our warmest welcome to every single one of you.
Starting tomorrow, we will be hosting our school festival over the next two days.Don’t worry—the Famous San Diego Chicken won’t be crashing our festival ! So please relax and enjoy a wonderful time with our students.Unfortunately, though, the Donut Bar won’t be setting up a booth here either, so you’ll just have to hang in there without your donuts!
Through this exchange, I hope you will learn about our cultural differences and, at the same time, discover how much we have in common.
Here in Osaka, we have a local word: “Meccha.”It’s our way of saying “super” or “really”—or as you might say in San Diego, “wicked” or “so much”!
I sincerely hope that this interaction between the young minds of Japan and the US—the leaders of our future—will turn out to be a “meccha” great opportunity.

明日から2日間にわたり、本校の文化祭が開催されます。
サンディエゴ・チキンが乱入してくることはありませんので、安心して本校の生徒たちと共に楽しいひとときをお過ごしください。ただ、残念ながら Donut Bar は出店していませんので、そこは少しだけ我慢してくださいね。
今回の交流を通じて、お互いの「違い」を知り、そして「同じ」ところを発見してほしいと思っています。
ここ大阪には『めっちゃ』という言葉があります。英語でいう super や really、サンディエゴで言えば wicked や so much のような意味です。
これからの未来を築く日本とアメリカの若者たちが交流を深め、これが「めっちゃいい機会」となることを心より願っています。）
